Product FAQ

Here are some answers to some frequently asked questions. Should you require additional information, please contact us anytime.

What is R-Value?

R-Value is the technical term for thermal efficiency, or an insulation material’s ability to prevent heat loss from a structure. Though there are specific formulas to determine R-Value, a general rule of thumb is the higher the number, the better the insulation’s performance.

How does the R-Value of QB panels compare to other construction methods?

It’s important to keep in mind that there are many variables impacting a structure’s overall R-Value performance, including windows (size and material), location (secluded or exposed to sun and wind), roof insulation quality and finishing products. However, when compared side-by-side, QB panels outperform wood and fiberglass by as much as 2 ½ times, with an R-Value of 32 as versus 14 for standard 6” fiberglass insulation.

How can QB panels be finished – inside and out?

QB panels can be finished using the exact same materials as wood framing.

What about noise and strength – how do QB panels compare?

QB panels are structurally more solid than wood and fiberglass. They will not warp or twist over time, and the 6” EPS foam makes a superior noise baffle.

Are there any design limitations to using QB panels?

None whatsoever. In fact, our precision custom-build technology allows for greater design flexibility with tighter tolerances than other building materials and processes.

How do the costs compare to other construction methods?

The materials costs for QB panels are comparable to traditional wood and fiberglass construction. The big savings is in labour, since a QB structure goes together in 1/3 the time and with 1/3 the labour. This can be a significant savings of time and money for those areas of Canada in which skilled tradesmen are in high demand.

We’re planning an addition to our home. Can QB panels be attached to other pre-existing materials?

Yes. QB panels can be integrated with virtually any architectural style and building material.

Where can I find this material, and how do I request it for my project?
