Features and benefits

The world’s most revolutionary green building technology

QB Technology’s patented EPS foam and steel panels dramatically increase a building’s thermal efficiency and are perfect for foundations, wall, and roof construction. The result? Homes and buildings that are more energy-efficient, stronger, quieter, comfortable and environmentally responsible than any other building system available on the market today.

QB built structures are:

• 300% more energy efficient than conventional construction
• Three times faster to build with 1/3 the labour
• Made from recycled content and are 100% recyclable: if the structure comes down, the foam and steel are fully recyclable
• Non-combustible, non-toxic and inorganic
• Dimensionally stable: won’t expand or contract, particularly when used as foundation material
• Superior in insulation and sound proofing

Simple technology, minimal environmental impact, increased thermal efficiency. That’s the QB green building revolution.

Go green – it pays

Now you can buy green and save green – no compromise

Making eco-friendly choices in building products shouldn’t come at the expense of design, quality, or your pocketbook. With QB’s thermal envelope technology, you have the flexibility to build your dream home, cottage, or commercial building without having to choose between cost savings and environmental benefits.

For comparable materials costs, a QB built structure virtually eliminates heat loss and air leakage, offering a thermal efficiency rating nearly three times that of traditional wood and fiberglass construction. That means years of saving natural resources, harmful greenhouse gas emissions - and money.

In addition, QB panels offer greater design flexibility and can be finished in any material both inside and out. Each panel is custom built to your project’s unique specifications, resulting in more accurate tolerances and far less waste.

Building components

Foam and steel: the nuts and bolts

Here is more information about us and some of the products we use.

Steel
In place of 2x4 wood studs, QB panels utilize light-gauge steel studs that are rolled and formed on-site at our component plants. Stud spacing and gauge are customized for each individual project to meet specific load and engineering requirements, ensuring optimal structural strength and stability.

Architectural EPS Foam
Architectural foam is the 6” material used to form the insulation fill between the panel’s steel studs. It is created from Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam, which has been used for years for coffee cups, coolers, insulation, and packaging for shipping. The same thermal insulating properties that make EPS foam so effective at keeping your coffee hot (and sandwiches cool!) applies to the way it functions as a building insulator.

Architectural foam is durable and strong, lightweight, cost effective, easy to install, low maintenance, can be molded and finished for interior or exterior applications.

The completed panels are pre-fabricated and shipped to the construction site for fast, easy assembly. Most two-storey single-family homes can be assembled in less than two days!

Our patent

Our patented technology makes QB a Canadian leader in the green building industry

The construction industry has begun to realize the potential of expanded polystyrene (EPS) as an efficient insulator, and it is becoming more widely used for projects of all sizes and scales.

After several years of diligence and investment, QB Technology acquired the Canadian patent to our product and process in October 2007. With this, we have the foundation from which to expand our network of licensees and pursue our commitment to the innovation of green construction materials and technologies.
